Frances Shelley

Frances is an independent composer working in London and East Anglia.  She trained as a classical pianist receiving a BA Hons. Music in 2008.

Today, her main focus is creating songs and new instrumental work for film, dance and theatre. Having worked with composers such as Richard Hartley, Thomas Dolby and Ross Power she has the ability to draw from a lifetime of exposure to an eclectic mix of musical genres, and is able to incorporate a wide mix of styles and influences, from Joni Mitchell to Liszt.  Her work is recognizable by its strong atmospheric and emotional content, and by its innate sense of melody.

Alongside two other projects, Frances is currently working on music for a film in collaboration with the Artheads Group, creating music for  a film about the transformatory power of  personal access to creativity, and its usefulness in drug rehabilitation programmes.

Frances finished writing and producing her second album of instrumental music entitled ‘Wilderness Rhapsodies’  that was released on 15th November 2010 from Ambiel Music.  An ever moving, swelling, windswept soundscape of battered emotional highs and lows, the music reflects her love of the untamed outdoors, and is dedicated to her late father.
